Abstract

1,075,020. Wheel tyres. LOUIS FISHMAN & CO. Inc. Dec. 22, 1964, No. 52062/64. Heading B7C. A substantially solid wheel tyre has bead rings 36 connected by fibres 38 embedded in the rubber and surrounding an annular recess of part-elliptical section for receiving an inflatable tube 40 protected by a sealing ring 44. The fibres 38 may be of cotton, nylon, rayon or glass and the bead rings 36 may be metal wires or formed of nylon, rayon or glass fibres or cords. The recess has a radial depth less than one-fifth that of the tyre. The tyre rubber is preferably reinforced with a random distribution of glass, cotton, rayon or nylon fibres between ¢ and 8 inches long in a concentration of 0 to 50% by weight in its radially inner portion and of 0 to 20% in its radially outer portion.
