Abstract

1322281 Pneumatic tyres CONTINENTAL GUMMI-WERKE AG 21 May 1971 [2 July 1970] 16226/71 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre having a radial cord single layer carcass reinforcing ply 1, the free ends 5 of which are looped inwardly about the bead cores 3 to face the tyre cavity, is provided with a bead reinforcer 7<SP>1</SP> around each of the bead cores, between the carcass and the surface of the tyre body, which reinforcer consists of substantially parallel filaments wires or the like inclined at an angle (preferably between 40 and 75 degrees) to the cords of the carcass reinforcing ply and in which portion 14 of the bead reinforcer covering the edge 10 of the carcass ply terminates in an edge 11 in the region radially between the lip 15 of a wheel rim on which the tyre is to be mounted and the mid-radial length of the sidewall of the tyre. As shown portion 14 has a radial extent of about one third of the radial height H (Fig. 1, not shown) of the sidewall and is about double the radial extent of the free ends 5 of the carcass ply, the axially outer edge 12 of the bead reinforcer being situated in the region between edge 11 and edge 10.
