Abstract

[Also in Division P2] A shut-off valve 14 in the pipe-line from a conservator 12 to a transformer tank 11 is closed by hydraulic or electrical means when a pressure relief valve 16 of the transformer tank opens. A noise proof tank-enclosure 17 may be provided. The cover (18) of the relief valve (Fig. 2, not shown) lifts under pressure, compressing a spring (29) until a cam operator member (23) moves a cam (24) to release a latch (26) whereupon the valve cover (18) is thrown open by the spring (29) and the cam (24) operates a spring-biased hydraulic piston (31). Operation of the hydraulic piston (31) pressurizes a line 15 to a hydraulic piston (33), (Fig. 3, not shown) at the shut-off valve 14, movement of the latter piston (33) operating a sliding lockplate (35) and permitting the shut-off valve to close under the action of a spring (41). The shut-off valve is reset by hand.
