Abstract

107,323. Hodgkinson, N., and Hodgkinson, A., (Representatives of Hodgkinson, J.). Oct. 25, 1916. Openers and cleaners.-Waste or other fibre is fed by a hopper b &c. to a toothed cylinder a surrounded by a toothed casing, the toothed lags in the lower part of which are arranged singly or in groups so as to provide intervening spaces through which the dirt falls away into the lower part of the casing e where it is collected or is drawn away by a suction device &c. The material is cleaned and opened in one complete rotation of the cylinder and is then withdrawn through the nozzle h and pipe h<1> of a suction device. The upper part of the casing e is removable to facilitate the cleaning of the parts of the machine.
