Abstract

1,072,191. Hydraulic reciprocating motors. FLEMING & FERGUSON, Ltd. Feb. 19, 1964, [Feb. 19, 1963], No. 6551/63. Heading F1A. A rotary valve for a hydraulic motor; e.g. of radial cylinder type, comprises a valve member 2 coupled at 2A to the motor drive shaft 1 and rotatable in a stationary housing 3 having an inlet port 5 and an exhaust port 6, and transfer ports 7 leading to the motor cylinders, the valve member having recesses 9 and 12, and 10 and 11 connected by passages 13 and 14 respectively, for connecting transfer ports 7 alternately to ports 5 and 6 during rotation. A sleeve 15 having ports 16 open to transfer ports 7 is lockable to the housing and is angularly adjustable to set the valve timing accurately. The direction of rotation of the motor may be reversed by changing over the inlet and exhaust connections. The valve member is hydrostatically balanced.
