1,071,437. Rotary-piston I. C. engines. USTAV PRO VYZKUM MOTOROVYCH VOZIDEL. Sept. 28, 1965 [Sept. 29, 1964], No.41169/65. Heading F1F. In a rotary-piston I. C. engine of the trochoidal n and n + 1 lobe type comprising a two-lobed casing (1), Fig. 1 (not shown), containing a threelobed piston 5, sealing of the working spaces (7, 8, 9) between the piston and the casing is effected by providing radially-orientated lateralsealing plates 11 attached to the ends of radialsealing strips 6 lodged in grooves within the lobes or apices of the piston, the radially-innermost end of each of the plates 11 being fixed to a ring 13 that slidingly engages with a groove in an axial-sealing ring 10 seated on a shoulder constituting an extension of the radially-innermost side of an annular groove in the piston containing a resilient ring 12 for pressing the ring 13 against the adjacent end-wall of the casing. The plates 11 are pressed against said wall by leaf springs or coil springs 14. The ring 12 may be made of silicone rubber.
