Abstract

1,071,048. Clutch control. RAYBESTOSMANHATTAN Inc. Jan. 14, 1966, No. 1969/66. Heading F2L. A clutch release collar comprises an antifriction bearing element 25 with an axial bore 36 engaging a guide sleeve, a backing plate 24 being bonded to a shoulder 28 at one end of the element, while a rubbing plate 26 engaging the clutch release levers is secured by tabs 33 bent over a shoulder 32 at the other end of the element. The plate 24 carries spring clips (22) engaging the main clutch operating member (21), Figs. 1-3 (not shown). The bearing element 25 is made from a composition including a major proportion of graphite and a thermosetting resin binder, together with small proportions of asbestos fibre and rubber, the latter serving as a vibration damper. Details of suitable compositions are given, together with a list of anti-friction agents.
