Abstract
The triacetate ester of "dithranol" (1,8,9-trihydroxy anthracene) is prepared by grinding the dithranol with anhydrous sodium acetate, adding acetic anhydride and refluxing.ALSO:Topically applicable compositions, e.g. ointments, creams, pastes and lotions, for the treatment of psoriasis comprise a carrier and a triester of dithranol (1, 8, 9-trihydroxy anthracene) with a C1-4 alkanoic acid. The triacetate is prefered.
