Abstract

1,070,552. Detecting yarn &c. breaks. LOUIS NEWMARK Ltd. and T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. June 30, 1965 [July 17, 1964], No. 29347/ 64. Addition to 1,003,875. Headings DID and D1F. In detector apparatus as claimed in claim 1 of Specification 1,003,875 the part of the machine through which the material passes and contacts is resiliently mounted so that the vibrations created by the running material pass to the transducer while the passage of vibrations from other sources is reduced. As shown the pigtail 1 associated with each spindle of a ring frame has a supporting arm 2 passing through a bush of rubber or plastics supported within a rigid sleeve 6 secured to and projecting from a support plate 3 which is provided with clips 4 for mounting on a rail in the machine. On the protruding end 2a of arm 2 there is a collar 7 carrying a link 8 connected to one side of a multi-electrode piezo-electric crystal 9. Thus the vibrations picked up by arm 2 from the balloon are transmitted to the crystal but vibrations from the machine are clamped by the bush. Means may be provided to resiliently mount the crystal 9. Rotation of arm 2 is prevented by a pin 10 passing through sleeve 6, bush and arm 2.
