Abstract

1,069,631. Packages. CARIBONUM Ltd. Feb. 28, 1964 [June 18, 1963], No. 24256/63. Headings B8C and B8P. A box insert comprises a backing sheet 1 and a plurality of retainer flaps 10, 11, 14, 15 secured to one face of the backing sheet, which are folded inwards to embrace a stack of paper and prevent it moving relative to the sheet, when the stack is smaller than the box in which it is to be placed. In the form shown a backing sheet 1 with tongues 3, 4 has two strips 7, 8 of paper cellulose-based material or synthetic sheet material glued to the centre of it, their free ends forming flaps. Flaps 14, 15 are folded over a stack of paper 17 standing on the centre of strip 8 and the tongues 3, 4 folded to overlie the stack. The flaps are then folded back under the backing sheet and adhered to it. The other pair of flaps 10, 11 are infolded and secured by adhesive on the top of the stack. If tongues 3, 4 are omitted flaps 14, 15 are similarly secured. The flaps may be made from four separate strips of material or alternatively one sheet appropriately cut and the strip 7 may be of less width than the length of the backing sheet. The insert is particularly suitable for packaging carbon paper and gramophone records, extra packing being included if the contents have a depth less than that of the box.
