Abstract
1,069,229. Liquefied gas containers. MARINE SERVICE G.m.b.H. Nov. 22, 1965 [Nov. 26, 1964], No. 49496/65. Heading F4P. [Also in Division E1] A thin-walled inner metal or plastic lining of a liquefied gas container under substantially atmospheric pressure is supported over its whole area by heat insulation material and is subdivided into rectangular panels (8), Fig. 4 (not shown) by inwardly projecting expansion folds (9) each of which terminates a short distance from folds at right angles thereto. Prior to welding together a plurality of panels (8) to form the lining, the margins of two adjacent edges of each panel are pressed into longitudinally extending folds of triangular crosssection and of length slightly less than that of the side of the panel which is preferably square, opposite ends of the two folds in each panel are closed by triangular end pieces (11) and the free edge of each fold is welded on unfolded edge of an adjacent panel. In a modification the lining construction is formed of panels (5), Fig. 2 (not shown), spaced from all adjacent panels and the gaps 6 are covered by inverted U-shaped trough members (4) having closed ends; the gap between mutually perpendicular troughs being closed by flat plates of suitable shape.
