Abstract
Aluminium base alloys containing at least 5% of Pb, Sn and/or Cd, e.g. between 5 and 50% Pb or 5 and 35% Sn, are annealed at least about 800 DEG C., e.g. 800-950 DEG C., for up to about 1 minute. An aluminium alloy strip sprayed on to a metal backing may be annealed as above, or single alloy sheet or strip may be so annealed prior to bonding to an aluminized steel backing to form a bearing. Prior art is disclosed of annealing 20% Sn - Al at 350 DEG C. for 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours.
