Abstract
788,017. Brazing. ZARGES, W. Sept. 19, 1955 [Sept. 17, 1954], No. 26759/55. Class 83 (4). In brazing structural parts of an aluminium alloy containing manganese less than 1 per cent magnesium 0.8 per cent or less and silicon less than 1 per cent, a brazing metal of the aluminium and silicon eutectic is applied to the parts as a coating and brazing is effected in a furnace or salt bath at a temperature of 575- 605 ‹C. The solder may be rolled upon the parts which may be of an alloy containing 0.6 per cent manganese 0.65 per cent magnesium and 0.75 per cent silicon. The parts which are amenable to precipitation-hardening heat treatment are spray hardened by quenching after removal from the furnace or salt bath and when they have cooled to 560-570‹ C.
