Abstract

1,068,550. Load cells. W. & T. AVERY Ltd. Dec.13, 1965 [Dec.11, 1964], No. 50497/64. Heading G1N. A load cell comprises strain gauges mounted on a cylindrical support 7 (Fig. 1) inside a gas- tight chamber 6 sealed by a diaphragm 8 which also supports the element 7. To eliminate stress on the support 7 by movement of diaphragm due to differences between the internal and external pressures, a flexible bellows 12 is supported inside the chamber 6 with its interior communicating via a tube 11 with the external atmosphere. The bellows 12 may alternatively be mounted outside the chamber 6 with its interior communicating with the interval pressure Fig. 2 (not shown).
