Abstract

1,068,089. Lubricating. RAILWAY MAINTENANCE CORPORATION, and POOR & CO. Sept. 10, 1964, No. 37152/64. Heading F2A. In a railway track lubricating system a pump (P) supplies grease from a tank T through conduits including an adjustable pressure relief valve V to rail lubricators L, the pump being operated through shaft S by impulses of wheels on a ramp R adjacent the rail. The height of the ramp is adjusted so that for an average speed train the required amount of grease is produced. The valve V is set so that for an average speed train a small amount of grease is returned downwardly on to the surface of the lubricant in the tank, higher speeds thus returning more grease. The valve may be adjusted for different ambient temperatures by rotation of a dial (D) which adjusts a spring (V<SP>1</SP>).
