Abstract

724,189. Lubricating. ALLARD, N. G. E. July 24, 1951 [Aug. 9, 1950], No. 17458/51. Class 12 (3) A rail bend lubricator is of the kind in which spraying jets 13 are fitted on to a vehicle and arranged so that lubricant is spread mainly in a horizontal direction on the vertical surfaces of the rail, and is characterized in that the jets, which may be positioned either in front of or behind the wheels, consist of flexible metal tubes adapted to yield when meeting the rail or an obstruction Compressed air is led into an oil reservoir 5 through a pipe 6, a gauge 8 and relief valve 9 being provided, whilst oil which is admitted to the reservoir through a filler 7 is led via a stopcock 20. and purifier 10 to branch conduits 12, control valve 16 and jets 13 to the nozzles 14, which nozzles have one hole for railway rails and two for tram rails. The flow of oil can be turned off by hand or automatically by operating a spring-controlled arm 17 through a wire 19.
