Abstract
1,067,801. Treating textiles. KYOTO KIKAI KABUSHIKI KAISHA. Jan. 14, 1965 [May 18, 1964 (2)], No. 1688/65. Heading D1L. Apparatus for sealing the entry or exit of a textile web F into or out of a fluid pressure treatment chamber 6 comprises a pair of rolls 1', 1" covered with soft elastic material 3 e.g. of rubber situated outside the entry or exit slit 7 and a member 5 of soft elastic material e.g. rubber (see also Fig. 4 not shown) which is embedded in the flanges surrounding the slit 7 and has walls 8, 8 which are pressed against the surfaces of the rolls 1', 1" by the pressure of the treatment fluid; this pressure also urges end walls 9 (see Fig. 4) of member 5 against flanges 4, 4' formed respectively at opposite ends of the rolls (see Fig 6 not shown). The roll 1' is mounted on levers 16 pivoted at 17 and is urged against the lower roll by a piston cylinder arrangement 13, 13' operated via a flexible tube 20 by the pressurised fluid in the treatment chamber, thus the roll sealing pressure varies in accordance with the pressure of the treating fluid. In the described form (see Fig. 1 not shown) the web is passed through the treatment chamber in zig-zag fashion to be dyed, bleached or steamed.
