Abstract

964, 379. Textile treating apparatus. JOH. KLEINEWEFERS SOHNE. June 12, 1962 [June 10, 1961], No. 22440/62. Heading D1L. A machine for the continuous treatment of textile webs, particularly with gases and vapours, comprises a closed treatment vessel having slots for the passage of the web into and out of it, each slot being defined by at least one bar having at least one resilient sealing roller associated therewith so as to seal the slot relatively to the exterior of the vessel, thereby permitting the maintenance of an elevated or reduced pressure in the vessel, relative to the exterior. In the embodiment shown textile material 1 is guided between two resilient rotatable rollers 2 into a lead-in nozzle 3 and thence into treatment chamber 4. It is led out from chamber 4 through nozzle 6 and between a pair of resilient rollers 7. Heating coils 8 are installed in the base of chamber 4 and are surrounded by treating liquid, a sieve 9 being fitted above the liquid to avoid spattering of the textile materiaL Alternatively the lower guide rollers 5 may dip into the liquid bath. The rollers in each roller pair 2 and 7 are urged against each other by pressure rollers 10 which may be of barrel shape. The lead in nozzle 3 is formed by a bar 26 which is wedged shaped in cross-section and has parts shaped to conform in part to the surface of rollers 2. The bar 26 is formed with a slot 12 through which the material is led and is wider than the rollers 2. Projections 13 at the sides of slot 12 are so thin in the region of plane 24 that they are lost in the flexible deformation of the rollers 2. In the case of the lead in nozzle the projection 13 protrude well beyond the line of contact of rollers 2 but with the nozzle 6 they do not extend beyond the contact line of rollers 7. In a second embodiment, (Fig. 8, not shown), the lead-in and lead-out nozzles are formed by one roller in contact with a suitable bar having a slot therein for the textile material to pass through and of less width than the roller. In this embodiment also the material is kept in contact with an endless belt whilst passing into and through the treatment chamber and means are provided for lubricating the belt for ease of sliding through the nozzle slots.
