Abstract

1,067,453. Rotary tool heads. J. C. NEVILLE Ltd. Aug. 5, 1964 [May 27, 1963], No. 21087/63. Heading B3T. In a pipe cutting machine, a rotatable annular member 1 which surrounds the pipe (7) to be cut is gear driven (3) from an electric motor (4). Bosses 8 on the member (1) carry rods (9) on which are adjustably mounted tool supports (10). Tool boxes 11 are attached to the supports (10) and carry tools (12) which are urged into cutting engagements with the pipe by springs. Clamping elements secure the machine to the pipe ready for the cutting operation. To facilitate the cutting in half of long lengths of pipe, the member 1 and its casing (5) may be made in halves to permit the assembly of the machine around the pipe. The radial cutting feed of the tools may alternatively be by a positive mechanical drive effected from the rotation of the member (1). The machine may also be manually driven by a handle instead of by the motor (4) and alternatively the motor may be positioned remote from the machine and operatively connected thereto by shafts and universal couplings.
