Abstract

911,094. Trepanning machines. C.D. PATENTS Ltd., and BROOKE TOOL MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Sept. 1, 1959 [Sept. 26, 1958], No. 30865/58. Class 83 (3). Apparatus for trepanning a graphite or like workpiece, comprises a support 1 for a workpiece 2, and two cutter heads 3, 4 of the type disclosed in Specification 911,093. Each head comprises two concentric tools, one removing a core from the work, and the other removing a cylindrical sleeve surrounding the core. The heads are fed towards each other by a leadscrew driven by an electric motor 8, and are balanced by air pressure motors acting through pipe lines 9. Dust extractors 10 remove the dust produced by the tools. A third tool may be provided on one of the heads to form a collar on the end of the sleeve.
