Abstract

1,066,422. Endless conveyers. G. PIEMONT. Jan. 27, 1966 [June 11, 1965], No. 3733/66. Heading B8A. Conveyer side walls 1 of rubber are formed with a series of V-shaped notches 3. Prior to securing (by cementing &c.) the edge of the wall to the belt T (Fig. 3, not shown) the wall is longitudinally compressed to close the notches. V-shaped notches 6 and 7 are formed in inner and outer faces of the outer edge of the wall. The notches 6 and 7 are also closed by the compression prior to securing the side wall, but lips 8 (Fig. 4, 5, not shown) are formed on the edges of the notches 7 to assist in expulsion of trapped material while the belt passes over a drive roller. In a modification (Figs. 6-9, not shown), the notches 6, 7 are replaced by corrugations formed in the outer edge of the wall. Each corrugation is of V-shape and is bounded by rib-shaped portions the spaces between which form the V-shaped notches 3.
