Abstract

An iron-nickel magnetic alloy containing 80-84 atomic % of nickel and in which the iron is partially replaced by any one of the following elements within the range stated or by more than one of those elements within a total of 2.5-10 atomic % is cold rolled, heated in an oxidizing atmosphere at 250-1100 DEG C., annealed in hydrogen or vacuum at a temperature between 1000 DEG C. and the melting point of the alloy, and then quenched from a temperature above 450 DEG C. .molybdenum.2-10 atomic % .tungsten.2-10 atomic % .chromium.3-10 atomic % .vanadium.3-6 atomic % .silicon.4-10 atomic % The alloy may be heat treated at 500 DEG -1100 DEG C. prior to the oxidizing step.
