Abstract
1,066,251. Mineral mining picks. ANDERSON MAVOR Ltd. June 14, 1965 [March 14, 1964], No. 10895/64. Heading E1F. The shaft 6 of a mineral cutting pick 7 is secured in a passage 4 of a pick box by the lower edge portion of a flat on a rotatable rod 11 engaging a notch 15 in the shaft. The rod is rotatably mounted in a bore 10 of the box having a portion communicating with the passage 4, and the rod is biased towards an angular setting in which the rod engages the notch by a detent 18 in a bore 17 of the box which is resiliently urged into contact with a portion of a further flat 16 on the rod on the side of the axis of rotation remote from the shaft contacting lower side by a resiliently deformable member 19, e.g. of rubber, and a screwthreaded plug 20 in an enlarged portion 21 of the bore. One or more detents with associated urging means may be utilised, each engaging a separate flat 16 on the rod. In a modification the resiliently deformable member is mounted in a further bore intersecting the bore 16 at right angles. The shaft has a squared end outside the box for manually tuning the shaft.
