Abstract

[Also in Division H2] A control knob assembly for an electric switch comprises a shaft having a bifurcated end portion formed by a substantially axially extending notch, one arm 4 of which acts as a guide and the other arm 5 of which acts to retain a knob 1 fitted to the end portion of the shaft, the knob having a recess into which the bifurcated end portion of the shaft fits and the recess having an axially extending groove 8 into which a portion of the arm 4 fits to guide the knob axially o n t o the bifurcated end portion and the recess having a radially extending portion 9 into which a projection 7 on the arm 5 snaps, when the knob and bifurcated end portion are brought together, to prevent axial separation of the knob from the shaft. The radially extending portion 9 has an opening to the outer surface of the knob through which a tool can be inserted to deflect the projection 7 from engagement with the portion 9 and thus allow the knob to be withdrawn axially from the shaft.
