Abstract

1,063,666. Dispensing cups. S. H. O. BRUUN. Dec. 16, 1964 [Dec. 16, 1963], No. 51230/64. Heading B8S. Nested cups 13, retained in a magazine 12 by a stop pin 14, are extracted one at a time by a suction head 11, which is adapted to engage the wall of the cup. The suction head is movable by a pneumatic ram 6, 7 on a slide 2 which is movable on guides 3 by a pneumatic ram 4, 5. In operation, the suction head is first moved into the interior of the lowermost cup by retracting the ram 6, 7, is then moved into engagement with the wall of the cup adjacent the pin 14 by retracting the ram 4, 5. The ram 4, 5 is then extended, thereby deforming the cup adjacent to the pin 14, Figs. 4, 5 (not shown), and the ram 6, 7 is extended to remove the cup from the magazine. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the suction head, instead of being connected to a source of vacuum, is itself constructed as a reciprocating pump having a piston 15 and a connecting rod (16) which couples the piston to the moving mechanism for the suction head.
