Abstract

Hydroxy naphthoic acid amide derivatives of general formula <FORM:1063399/C2/1> in which R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, are alkyl groups or alkylene groups attached to each other to form a ring by a carbon, oxygen or nitrogen atom, X is hydrogen, a halogen atom or an alkoxy group, and n is 2 or 3, are prepared by reacting the chloride or an ester of the appropriate 2,3-hydroxynaphthoic acid with a suitable alkylenediamine. The preparation of 2-hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid-(N-morpholinoethyl) - amide; 6 - bromo - 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N - morpholinoethyl) - amide; 6 - methoxy - 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - N - (morpholinoethyl) - amide; 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N,N - diethylaminoethyl) - amide; 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N - piperidino - ethyl) - amide - hydrochloride; 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid-[N-(N1 - methyl) - piperazinoethyl)] - amide; 6-bromo - 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N-piperidinoethyl) - amide - hydrochloride; 2-hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N - pyrrolidinoethyl) - amide; 6 - bromo - 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N - pyrrolidinoethyl) - amide; 6 - methoxy - 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid-(N - pyrrolidinoethyl) - amide; 2 - hydroxy-3-naphthoic acid - (N - morpholinopropyl)-amide; 6 - bromo - 2 - hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid-(N-morpholinopropyl) - amide; and 6 - methoxy-2-hydroxy - 3 - naphthoic acid - (N - morpholinopropyl)-amide is described.
