Abstract

1,063,239. Sliding clasp fasteners. SCOVILL MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 2, 1965, No. 46416/65. Heading E2S. A sliding clasp fastener comprises tapes 12, 14 each having a coil 24, 26 made from a single filament of plastics material attached thereto by stitching near one edge, the coils being interengaged and released by means of a slider, the slider having spaced wings 32, 34 and a pull tab 36, the stitching 20, 22 forming beads beyond the thickness of the coils, the inside of one of the wings of the slider having inwardly directed locking projections 40 dimensioned to engage the beads of stitching when the upper ends of the tapes are spread apart. As described the top wing is flanged and has the projections 40 and the bottom wing has no flanges; the slider fits the tapes, coils and beads with a snug frictional fit to prevent undesired movement when the upper ends of the tapes are not spread apart.
