Abstract

1397516 Slides for sliding clasp fasteners TEXTRON INC 7 May 1973 [18 May 1972] 21697/73 Heading E2S A slider 24 for a filamentary, coil type, sliding clasp fastener 10 comprises a body member having a pair of spaced parallel wing members 26, 28, first and second pairs of opposing flanges 44, 46, and 48, 50 extending respectively from opposite lateral edges of the wing members 26, 28 towards each other to define a Y-shaped channel for receiving the fastener elements and one flange 44, 50 only of each of the first and second pairs of flanges having a looking tab 52, 54 projecting therefrom into the channel whereby slider movement along the fastener tapes is facilitated and the locking tabs may be positively lodged in the space between adjacent coplanar heel members 14, 114 of the fastener coils. As shown, in which the wing members 26, 28 of the slider are joined by a spacing member 30 and in whidh each wing member is provided with a pull tab 40, 42. The fastener coils are each disposed along a tape edge with heel members 14, 16 and 114 and 116 overlying opposite sides of the respective tapes. The arrangement being such that any opening or spreading force on the fastener causes the locking tabs to become positively locked in the intestices of the fastener elements.
