1 Claim.
This invention relates to means for limitin the movement of sliders of separable slide fasteners.
It is an object of the invention to provide means for limiting the movement of a slider, i. e., a stop, which is concealed from view when the slide engages said means.
The invention will be illustrated by reference to the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. l is a plan view of an assembly showing fastening elements mounted on tapes, a slider movable longitudinally thereof to couple and uncouple said elements and a slider stop adjacent each terminal fastening element;

-The tapes I are provided with beaded edges 2.
The fastening elements 3 are mounted on and secured to the beaded edges. The slider 4, provided with pull tab 5, is mounted on the fastening elements 3 and moves longitudinally thereof to couple and uncouple those elements. Thesllder comprises walls 6, joined by a .irog or web 1 and a .pair of flanges 8 depending fromeach wall 4. The two pairs of flanges depending from the opposite walls of the slider are positioned in spaced relation, respectively, the spaces defined by said pairs 01' flanges serving to permit movement or the slider longitudinally of the tapes. The stop may bemounted on the tape by crimping it thereon or otherwise securing it thereto.
Whatever may be the method of mounting the stop on the tape, each leg of the stop engages plan view of the stop shown in Fig.

The longer member I I of the legs extends transversely a sufllcient distance to engage an edge 9 of the flange 8 of the slide when the latter is brought to bear against the stop. Any effort to move the slide beyond its limiting position will cause the leg II to jam between the edge 9 and the web I and effectively prevent movement of the slider. The longer leg H may extend transversely of the tape from the edge thereof a sufllcient distance to extend beyondthe boundaries of the slider body and then be visible. The length of the shorter leg I2 is, however, so limited that it-does not extend beyond those boundaries and lies within the channel between the web I and flange 8. The short leg is therefore wholly concealed from-view by the slider body when the latter has reached the limit of its movement determined by the stop action of the longer leg. Accordingly, the tapes carrying the stop are so mounted on the tape-carrying article that the side of the tape engaging the short leg l2 or the stop is normally exposed to view.
To further accentuate the concealment of the short leg I! within said channel, it may be angularly and longitudinally ofiset in relation to the longer leg as shown in Figs. 4, 7, and 8.
I claim: 1 A slider stop for separable slide fasteners bf the type described in which a series of fastening elements, are mounted on a tape at the edge thereof and a slide is movable longitudinally thereof, said slide having a pair of walls and flanges depending therefrom defining a pair of channels, said flanges terminating in edges, said step comprising a pair of legs of different lengths, joined at one end and defining a tape receiving space between said legs; each legengaging an opposite side of said tape at the edge thereof and adjacent to a terminal fastening element; the longer of said legs engaging only one side of the tape and extending from the edge of the tape transversely thereof a distancesufficient to engage a terminal edge of one of said flanges, the length of the shorter leg being so restricted that said leg lies wholly within one of said channel when the longer leg engages said edge.
