Abstract

106,322. Chignell, J., and Farringdon Works & H. Pontifex & Sons. May 17, 1916. Pressure regulating and reducing valves.-A reducing-valve, more particularly for CO2, comprises a casing a made in two parts with an operating-diaphragm clamped between them. The diaphragm is backed by a guiding-piston d, and the load of the spring k thereon is varied by means of the adjustable spindle-bearing h. The spindle c projects outside, as shown, for testing purposes. The valve seat x is renewable and is carried by a seat arm y in which is formed the inlet passage 2. The valve member u is slidably mounted in the part q of the spindle and is held up to the seat by a spring s and forced away therefrom by the passage of high-pressure gas. The gas passes through a heating-coil 6 from the inlet 7. A safety valve 10 and a pressure gauge 9 are fitted to the casing in addition to two outlet valves (not shown) of the usual type. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 22008/06 and 5125/10.
