Abstract
12,064. Dobson, E. May 14. Pressure-regulating valves. - A bell-operated gas-governor is provided with a pair of valve members, one seated on the other, the smaller valve being used alone when the demand is small. Both valves, which close in the direction of flow are actuated by a common spindle f, which is rigidly connected to the smaller valve k and actuates the larger valve m, which is pressed upwards by a spring v through an adjustable collar n. In a modification, a diaphragm is used instead of a spring for holding the larger valve to its seat while the small valve alone is being used. The actuating-bell j, which is loaded by weights p, is arranged in a chamber c separated from the outlet chamber b by a loose plate e, which throttles the supply of gas to the bell and also acts as a guide for the spindle f.
