Abstract
1,062,974. Bowden mechanisms. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. June 18, 1965 [June 18, 1964], No. 25280/64. Heading F2K. [Also in Division E2] A cable 19 (Figs. 3, 4, 8, not shown) is attached to a fixed member 20 having two spaced parallel arms 21 with aligned apertures therein by a sheet-metal clip having a central slot through which the cable 19 passes, an enlarged end 25 of the cable bearing on a rear face of the clip adjacent the slot, the clip being adapted to retain the cable in the slot while the clip is engaged with the member 20: The end of a movable sheath 24 slidably surrounding the cable is secured to an actuating or actuated lever 22 pivoted to the member 20. The clip of Fig. 1, of arcuate cross-section (Fig. 2, not shown) has a slot 11 extending from its centre to one end, which end is radiused to form a taper, flanges 17 at the other end, and tabs 18 adjacent said other end. The clip is pushed through the aperture in one arm 21, the cable end inserted into the slot, and the clip engaged with the aperture in the other arm 21, the flanges 17 and tabs 18 engaging opposite sides of the first arm to locate the clip. In Fig. 5, a clip of channel cross-section has a slot 34 extending across the web portion 31 to terminate in enlarged rounded end portions 35 in the sides 32 of the clip. The cable end is passed through one of the portions 35 and centred so that the cable is located in the middle portion of the slot 34. The clip is pushed between the arms 21 until tabs 37 on the sides 32 engage in the support arm apertures and flanges 33 at the bases of the sides engage the edges of the arms 21, the enlarged slot ends 35 then being closed by the arms 21 to retain the cable.
