Abstract

1,062,519. Tape feed arrangements. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. June 30, 1965 [July 1, 1964], No. 27637/65. Heading G5R. An arrangement for step feeding a data carrier tape 2 to e.g. a perforator 17 comprises a pair of electromagnetically operated brakes 8, 11, and a rotatable cam-shaped member 1 which in one position of rotation forms a loop in the tape and in its opposite position allows the loop to be drawn out by drive means 14. When the member is in its loop-forming position brake 9 on the tape supply side of the arrangement is de-energized and brake 12 is energized and when the member is in its opposite position the brakes are oppositely energized and electromagnet 16 is energized to move the roller 15 and hence the tape into driving engagement with the driven roller 14. One side of the depression in the tape path into which the cam member moves the tape when forming a loop, may be moved vertically up or down to vary the length of the loop formed.
