A method of manufacturing a capacitor com" prises placing one end of a first strip 12, comprising an aluminium foil conductor between a pair of dielectric sheets of " resin bonded reconstituted mica," on the end of a similar second strip 11, so that the strips are at right angles, folding the second strip 11 through 180 degrees about a line perpendicular to its length so that it lies in contact with the first strip, and continuing to fold the first strip 12 and second strip 11 in turn through 180 degrees as described above until a stack of the required size is formed. In Fig. 3, the strips 11, 12 are folded about the end edge, i.e. the edge opposite ears 24, of a former 23. In a modification (Fig. 8, not shown) the strips are folded about a side edge of the former. Terminals 22 are engaged between the conductor and one of the dielectric sheets at each end of the two strips 11, 12. The stack is then heat pressed to form the capacitor, during which operation the resin flows.
