Cast-iron and scrap processes.-A cast iron is obtained by melting a mixture of scrap iron, mild steel and pig irons, one high in silicon and carbon, another high in carbon and low in silicon, and a third with medium or low silicon content: the first named pig iron may by a hot blast and the other two cold-blast pig irons. When the mixture has been melted, a few pounds of aluminium may be added.
