Abstract

1,061,802. Insulation for electric machine winding conductors. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. June 9, 1964, No. 23876/64. Addition to 945,698. Heading H2A. The invention provides that in the method of producing insulated stacks of conductors for the windings of electrical machines, as defined by Claim 1 of Specification 945,698, the contraction tape is applied in two stages; one stage 4 acts on pressure members 3 arranged to act only on the narrower sides of the stack 1, and the other stage 7 acts on different pressure members 6 arranged to act only on the wider sides of the stack, the two stages producing substantially uniform pressures on the respective sides. The one stage 4 is effected first, and the pressure members 3, comprising thin strips of aluminium slightly narrower than their corresponding sides, is applied after part or all of the stage 4 has been wrapped. The invention is applicable to the end windings only, or also to the slot portions, and the tape pressure is selected by the number of layers or choice of material.
