Abstract

1,060,997. A.C. motors. GENERAL MOTORS (FRANCE). Sept. 30, 1965 [Oct. 22, 1964], No. 43100/64. Heading H2A. An A.C. motor, e.g. for a clothes-washing machine, has two stator windings C, D of different pole-number and a commutated rotor which may be short-circuited to permit induction running. By this means a low induction running speed may be obtained using stator winding C which is of high pole-number and has an appropriate capacitor starting winding, or a higher speed using the two-pole winding D, the brushes F being series or repulsion (shortcircuited) connected. The commutator shortcircuiting contact G is controlled by an electromagnet I.
