Abstract

1,060,702. Watches. CENTRE ELECTRONIQUE HORLOGER S.A. Feb. 18, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1964; Jan. 6, 1965], No.6604/65. Heading G3T. An electronic watch comprises a two arm resonator (3), Figs.1 and 3 (not shown), serving both as a time basis and as a driving member, having arms (3c) and (3d) each provided with a magnetic head (14) including pole pieces (5a) and (5b) defining an air gap therebetween, ovalshaped pick-up and energizing coils (9) and (10) which are partially disposed within the air gap, and a driving circuit, the capacitor (11), resistor (12) and transistor (13) of which are mounted inside the coils in a plastic container (16). The arms (3c), (3d) are joined by a portion (3b) to an anchorage (3a) secured to a back plate (1) by three screws (2), and their centres of gravity and consequently their natural frequency of oscillation can be varied by fingers (7) which are frictionally secured by screws (6) so that they can be rotated in accordance with scales (14a) and (15a) marked on the arms (3d) and (3c), respectively. Limiting members (47) prevent the arms from being damaged by shocks. The driving circuit includes a battery (8) within a casing (8b) secured in position by a spring (17) which traps a connection (19) between the battery (8) and driving circuit (9) to (13). The oscillations of the arms (3c) and (3d) are converted to rotary motion by pawls (24) and (25) which act on a ratchet wheel (23) to drive second, minute and hour hands through a train (26) to (29) and (32) to (34) inclusive. The hands are set by a button (44) connected to a wheel (45) which can be moved axially to mesh with wheels (41, (42) and (37) connecting with the hand driving means. A further embodiment describes a resonator of generally similar shape to that of Figs. 1 and 3 having at least one hole drilled in each arm to vary the distribution of the oscillating mass. In this embodiment the fingers (7) are replaced by rotatable plugs having eccentric centres of gravity, and the members (47) by pins mounted on the plate (1) and locating in same bores as the rotatable plugs.
