Abstract

1,060,431. Centrifugal pumps. FRANZ EISELE & SOHNE. Jan. 27, 1964 [Jan, 28, 1963; Aug. 2. 1963], No.3447/64. Heading F1C. A centrifugal pump for handling liquid manure comprises one or more cutters c, Figs. 1 and 2, arranged on the circumference of the intake b so as to be brushed by the impeller blades e, at least one of the impeller blades having a cutter plate g which co-operates with the cutter or cutters c to reduce the size of long pieces of straw and other solids in the manure, thereby preventing clogging of the pump. The intake b is enlarged in the direction of flow, as shown. As shown in Fig. 4, a cutter disc c may replace the separate cutters c. The intake b may be arranged offcentre in relation to the impeller axis, Fig. 6 (not shown), and may be of elliptical form.
