Abstract

1,059,892. Angular bending. F. SASSAK. Jan. 3, 1966, No. 39/66. Heading B3E. A tube bender includes a reciprocating die cooperating with two spaced, pivoted abutment or die members to bend the tube therebetween, each abutment member being mounted on a pinion engaging a rack secured to a piston in a cylinder, the pistons serving to form a resistance to the pivoting of the abutment members during bending. Tube T to be bent is placed on two horizontally aligned die blocks 36 adjustably mounted on support blocks 20 carried by shafts of pinions 10. An arcuate die 42 is then moved down between the blocks 36 to bend the tube causing rotation of the blocks 36 and thus the pinions 10. This rotation is resisted by pistons, in cylinders 12, 13, on which are secured racks engaging the pinions 10, constant air pressure being supplied through a pipe 33 to the cylinders 12, 13. Alternatively oil under pressure may be used.
