Abstract

1,059,057. Sewing machines. SINGER CO. Oct. 12, 1965 [Oct. 15, 1964], No. 43318/65. Heading D1G. A device for regulating the presser bar spring 36 comprises a guide member 45 releasably securable by screws 46 to the sewing machine head, cam means 44 supported on member 45, and an abutment bracket 47 slidably mounted on member 45. The cam means 44 is in the form of a knob rotatable on a pin 49 rigid with member 45, and formed with a helical cam groove 72 engaged with a follower tongue 68 projecting from bracket 47 through an openended slot 53 in member 45. A tongue 61 on bracket 47 engages the upper end of spring 36, whereby the latter is compressed or released on rotation of said knob. The head of the machine is closed by a hinged cover 37, Fig. 2, not shown.
