Abstract

1,212,160. Sewing-machines. SINGER CO. 16 June, 1969 [20 June, 1968], No. 30367/69. Heading D1G. In a lockstitch sewing machine a bobbin 35 is rewound by a bobbin winding element 45 carried with the looptaker and rotatable therewith and has a lug 54 which engages with a tapered lug 42 on the lower flange of the bobbin to turn the bobbin the engagement being effected by a manually operated cam arrangement. When a shaft 62 is rotated by movement of an inclined face 90 by the machine operator, a cam 66 is rotated to lift a follower 70 and a bracket 74 fixed thereto. This movement causes a shaft 46, which is movable relative to the looper shaft and mounted therein, to rise so that since pin 50 engages a recess in the looper drive gear (not shown) is rotated and also causes the bobbin winding element to engage the bobbin and thereby cause it to rotate also. When the cover plate (not shown) over the loop taker recess is replaced a cam thereon always ensures that rock arm 63 is returned to the normal operating position.
