Abstract

1,058,992. Pill dispeners. ORTHO PHARMACEUTICAL CORPORATION. Aug. 4, 1964, No. 30425/64. Heading B8P. A pill dispenser comprises a base for containing pills, a rotatable cover having a dispensing opening, and an indicator dial mounted on the inner surface of the cover and engaging the base, whereby rotation of the cover rotates the dial in relation to a reference on the cover. Pills are stored in bores 22 of base 14 and removed from the dispenser through opening 17 in the cover 13. Dial 15 marked with appropriate prescription intervals is mounted on a pin 39, and has teeth 42 engaging teeth 25 formed integrally with the base. When the cover is rotated to align the opening 17 with a bore the dial is rotated to bring the next marking into view through a hole 20 in the cover. Alternatively the cover may be transparent, and have a registring line. In alternative embodiments the edge of the dial may project beyond the periphery of the dispenser and may itself be provided with a set of openings so that it may be mounted below the dispensing opening.
