Abstract

998,765. Pill &c. dispensers. ORTHO PHARMACEUTICAL CORPORATION. Jan. 30, 1963 [Feb. 28, 1962], No 7891/62. Heading B8P. A dispenser for pills, tablets, &c. comprises an annular body 10 having cavities 16 and an index 17 arranged in a ring, a cover 11 rotatably interlocked with the body and having a dispensing aperture 18 for the pills 25 and an insert 14 in the cover having time symbols 15 corresponding to each cavity, that part of the cover overlying the cavities 16 being sufficiently transparent for the index 17 to be visible. The cover has a scalloped recess 21 into which fits the insert 14, a hole allowing access for an instrument to dislodge the insert when desired. The inner circumferential wall of the cover is divided into three equi-spaced legs 20, each having a detent to engage ratchet teeth 28 on the inner wall of the body 10, thus allowing relative rotation of the cover and body in one direction only, and a lip on the base to engage with chamfer 29 and lock the cover to the body. The symbols 15 denote the days of the week so that by fitting the insert 14 with the index 17 pointing to the day on which the first pill is taken, the index will subsequently record the day on which each successive pill is taken.
