Abstract

1,058,752. Measuring fluid flow. JOHN I. THORNYCROFT & CO. Ltd. Sept. 20, 1963 [Oct. 31, 1962], No. 41168/62. Heading G1R. In an apparatus for controlling the ratio of fluid mixtures in supply lines a piston 12, pivoted to a lever 10 pivoted at 11, is subjected on one side, i.e. chamber 13, to the pressure anteriorly of an orifice plate 26 and at the other side i.e. chamber 14, to the pressure posteriorly of an orifice plate 24 or venturi in a supply line 28, Fig. 2. A push rod 17, pivoted to the lever 10, is attached to a diaphragm 18 subjected to pressures on either side the inlets 20, 21 derived from the pressure drop over a further venturi or orifice plate in another fluid supply line. The arrangement is such that any alteration in pressure drop across either of the venturi or orifice plates in the fluid supply lines will cause movement of either the piston, 12 or diaphragm 18 to actuate a microswitch 23 or 24 to actuate a damper or valve in either of the fluid lines until the preset ratio is again obtained.
