Abstract
1,058,664. Contacting gases with liquids. H. STAGE. Feb. 4, 1964 [Feb. 9, 1963], No. 4693/64. Heading B1R. A gas/liquid contact column containing packing has the packing surrounded by and subdivided into a number of units by perforated walls which are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the column. The surrounding perforate wall may be in contact with the inside walls of the column or as shown in Figure 2 spaced therefrom by members 4 which have sealing gaskets 5 filling in grooves 6 in the walls of the column. Alternatively the end perforate walls may have extensions which space the surrounding perforate wall from the column wall and the free space there between may be filled with a material such as asbestos. The perforate walls may be of expanded metal.
