Abstract

1493608 Valves DEMAG AG 10 Dec 1974 [20 Dec 1973] 53349/74 Heading F2V An expansion device for a compressed gas includes at least one chamber 10a containing a packing material 8, the chamber being defined between a body having a perforated casing 2 surrounding a central perforated inlet pipe 4 having a gas inlet 5 at one end and a piston 12 at the other end operable to vary the number of pipe perforations through which the gas flows. There may be several chambers 10a, 10b et seq. formed by annular subdividers 9a, 9b et. seq. and the chambers may be further subdivided by radial partitions (not shown). The radial partitions may cover some of the perforations of the inlet pipe 4 and the casing 2 to control the relative throughflow cross-sections. The packing material may be loose spherical ellipsoidal or polygonal elements or such elements joined together. All the packing elements may be of the same size.
