Abstract
1,058,563. Boxes for dispensing articles. DOW CHEMICAL CO. Oct. 23, 1964, No. 43392/64. Heading B8P. A generally rectangular dispensing box has an opening between its front and bottom walls for dispensing articles, a projection on the inner surface of its back wall to urge the articles towards the opening, and a rib on the inside of its front wall to urge the articles towards the back wall. The box may be transparent, to permit viewing the contents, or opaque. In one form, a rectangularlyshaped dispenser of a transparent rigid plastics material has front and rear walls 34, (36), Fig. 3, and Fig. 2 (not shown), and at its lower end is provided with a hole allowing a contained package 32 to be gripped by the finger and thumb. The hole consists of a semicircular section (46) in the front wall 34 for the thumb, and a full-width slot 44 across the base 42 of the container for the fingers. As a package is withdrawn, remaining packages within the container are fed towards the hole by gravity. Ribs 48 on the inner side of the front wall 34 guide the packages 32 against the rear wall, which at its lower end is formed with a forwardly-inclined projection or guide surface 50 to push the packets towards the hole. In one modification, Figs. 10-14 (not shown), the hole is closed by a serrated-edged cover (66) which is torn out when the dispenser is put into service. The outer surface of the rear wall of the dispenser is provided with a strip of adhesive tape &c. (78), to mount the dispenser upon a wall &c. In another modification, Figs. 15-17 (not shown), the dispenser is provided with a single internal rib (112) on its front wall, to guide the contained packages towards the rear wall. As before, a strip of adhesive (114) upon the outer surface of the rear wall may be used to secure the dispenser upon a house &c. wall. In another modification, Figs. 18-21 (also not shown), a double-ended dispenser (116), from either end of which articles may be dispensed, is provided at the centre of its rear wall with a pivot bearing (118) which may be stuck to a support, so that the dispenser can be turned through 180 degrees.
