A crane for use in mine adits is clamped to the base of two or more transverse beam arches 5 which support the roof of the adit. Clamping plates 7 and bolts 8 hold flanges 6 against plates 3. The jib 1 is slewed by a ram 11 and a pivoted arm 10. To facilitate movement slide runners 9, 9<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2 (not shown), are provided. The runner 9<SP>1</SP> may be vertically adjusted by a ram 12 so that the crane may be levelled.
