Abstract

1,058,211. Winding bobbins; stop-motions; thread-guards. SCHWEITER ENGINEERING WORKS Ltd. April 20, 1964 [April 19, 1963], No. 16391/64. Headings DID and D1J. Winding apparatus of the type having a plurality of winding stations movable relative to an automatic mechanism for replacing cop tubes and knotting broken threads &c., includes a yarn feeler to initiate a knotting operation and a second monitoring element to initiate a coptube exchange if necessary. As described the winding stations rotate on a turret pass the automatic mechanism. When feeler 7 pivots in the absence of a yarn, roller 8 driving package 9 is stopped, bolt 45 is projected into position 45a to actuate a switch on the machine base to stop the turret with the winding station oppose the automatic mechanism, and shaft 17 is rotated causing both feeler 4 to move into balloon breaker 3 to grip the yarn if present or else to actuate switch 37 to close circuit 38 and feeler 51 to engage the coptube. Feeler 51 comprises two scanners 52, 53, Fig. 5 (not shown), connected to an electric circuit which, if the amount of yarn on the tube is less than a certain minimum, actuates a second switch to close circuit 38. The closing of circuit 38 by one or both switches initiates the cop tube replacement. Feeler 53 may be replaced by a feeler 13, Fig. 3 (not shown) which directly engages the switch if no thread or nearly no thread, is present on tube 2. Feeler 7 may be replaced by an optical or electrical feeler. An arresting bolt 59, Fig. 6 (not shown), is provided to align the winding station accurately with the automatic mechanism.
